It's How Far I've Come... Not How Far I Have To Go
It’s a new year and here we go again… but before we get into New Years resolutions… how did you make out with your plans and goals from last year? How many things did you cross off your “1001 things to do before I die” list? How many successes did you have?
Sometimes I can be so focused on helping our clients, improving our systems, working the plans, managing the business, the household, the finances, setting personal goals, goals about family, friends, work, spiritual life, and improving me ++++ and in the end a lot of stuff got done, a lot of clients had successful moves… and there was a lot of dust flying around to “make it happen”… but then what… I just move on to the next task at hand.
Do you know what I’m talking about? I didn’t stop to take a breath and take the time to enjoy some of my victories. At a recent real estate coaching seminar… Joe Stumpf (the president of By Referral Only Marketing), blurted out, “Stop polishing the apple”... “take the time to savor your victories. Look how far you have come… not how far you have to go.”
So, how was your progress this year? Did you take the time to savor your victories? How far have you come in the last year? How far have you come in the last 5 years, or 10 years?
What are some of the changes you made in your personal life with family, or friends and other relationships? What about your physical condition, your
accumulated knowledge, or special accomplishments?
I know when I think about all the changes in my life in the past 10 years… some of the victories put a big grin on my face. So why not celebrate and cherish some of your victories… its never too late! And remember -
It’s progress… not perfection. It’s how far you have come... not how far you have to go!
