Just One Nugget

This summer I was driving from Harrison to Abbotsford with a friend, Kirk. We got into a conversation about why we attend certain functions, seminars, social gatherings, and church.

My goal is to glean out “that one piece of info” that I can use today to empower me or better the life of my family in a way that we aren’t currently doing (it may be

something that I might be doing, acting, or thinking that I am not even aware of.) That piece of info is what I call “the Nugget.” If I can glean out just one nugget...all is worth while.

Recently, Marlene and I attended an evening conference...and the speaker was Gary Thomas. The topic was marriage. After 15-20 minutes...came the one nugget. It was in the form of a question...How can you and your spouse “Grow Old Together Happily?”

Wow...now that’s a question I never even thought of. I started to explore a ton of ideas using that question as the sounding board. You probably have some marital issues

periodically...I know we do. What we started to do was to put things into context of this question...if we deal with this issue head on is it going to help us “Grow Old

Together Happily”...or are we making a big deal about nothing!

With this one question, petty issues get side stepped and things just seem to go a lot smoother ( it feels like your in the flow.) So the next time that you may see me listening to a speaker, or one of my By Referral Only tapes, reading a book, or watching a movie...you need not second guess what I am looking for…”Just One Nugget” 

P.S Sometimes when it’s really hard to find that nugget, I need to just dig a little deeper...when all seems a waste of time...because that nugget may be just around the corner.
